A sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anytime and anywhere. CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is the lifesaver in this situation. The swift and properly-administered assistance can increase the chances of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest and it is estimated that it can save up to 100.000 lives per year across Europe.

ERC's mission is to preserve human life by making high-quality resuscitation available to all. To fulfil that mission, there is a need for training and education to reach a broader audience. To reach them, ERC together with UEFA, started an awareness campaign and part of this awareness campaign is training and education on CPR. This initiative will create a buzz about CPR among young adults and football lovers worldwide. There will be a specialised training programme for those who want to avail themselves of this course. This noble initiative "Saving a Life" was announced at the opening session of the 8th UEFA Medical Symposium at the German Football Association (DFB) in Frankfurt where Professor Dr. Koen Monsieurs, the Chair of the ERC, was present as one of the speakers.
